Dear Members of the UABA
Sometimes events overtake all of us. As everyone by now knows, Russia has invaded Ukraine and has made our UABA meeting agenda for this coming Saturday, March 8, in Weehawken, NJ, moot.
Whereas we wanted to contribute to the people, lawyers and government of Ukraine our ideas having to do with the Rule of Law, the question now is what we as lawyers, presumably with more contacts with various movers and shakers than the average concerned Ukrainian American, can do at this moment of an existential threat to Ukraine. Thus, the only topic on the agenda is exactly that: What should the UABA as a body contribute to make the world more aware of the situation in Ukraine, what levers of power can we access to preserve Ukraine’s very existence as a unified country, and what legal grounds exist for action against Russia or even current or former Ukrainian leaders with which we can assist.
Since there are many attorneys interested in this topic, but some who cannot attend in person, we have established a conference call line for those who wish to listen in and contribute remotely. The Conference Call in number is 760-569-7171 and the Participants’ Code is 730581. Our moderator will be Nestor Olesnycky, Esq. of New Jersey, one of the founding members of the UABA, to whom you should send your RSVP and advise of your in person or remote attendance. Questions and comments from remote users will be accepted by text or email sent to Nestor@microsnyc.com, or to his cell phone@551-655-4875. He will create a list in order of receipt and, to the extent possible, allow all remote users to participate equally with those present, whether by reading the text or email, or calling on the remote participant to speak.
